Values and Ethos
An outstanding Performing Arts and Media education
We pride ourselves in the expertise, facilities and breadth of opportunity we provide our students with, making The ArtsXchange an exceptional Alternative Provision with expertise to meet the needs of young people with a wide range of Special Educational Needs including both SEMH and ASD. Our expertise guides and directs creatively-inspired young people towards fulfilling lives and employment within the creative industries. Our purpose-designed learning spaces are equipped to industry standard, and our educators are accomplished creatives in their own right. With our state-of-the-art provision, we strive to give each young person the confidence and skills, both transferable and specialist, they need to shine as adults.
Nurturing the individual
We firmly believe that every young person deserves access to an education that respects their unique circumstance and individual needs, an education that unearths and celebrates each person’s unique potential and talent. Our individual-led performing arts and creative media curriculum puts joy back into learning, helping students reconnect with education and with themselves.
Community through collaboration
We think of our college community as a family. College should be a place where students feel safe, supported, and free to express themselves. Our culture of mutual support extends to our curriculum, where projects are often collaborative across disciplines, be they performative, media based, technical, or musical. This process of creative exchange and collaboration helps individuals realise they are of value and helps them feel that they belong.
Providing all-round support
We take a holistic approach towards education, ensuring every member of our community feels seen and heard. We consider the emotional wellbeing of our students and staff paramount for nurturing individuals and cultivating community. We resolve conflict through positive discussion and never through physical coercion; we believe in supporting an individual’s agency, and helping them to understand and take charge of their actions. We celebrate the diversity and difference that makes our community such a rich hub of creative production and exchange.
